New looks for the New Year!
Tierra main classroom
Those of you involved with Tierra during the new year transition will have noticed a few changes in our image; an additional classroom was added to our space to accommodate our growth and allow us to hold additional classes with a convenient 6-7:50pm schedule. Also, all three rooms have been brightened with fresh new colors of paint, and numerous traditional Mexican decorations. We hope you find these improvements to provide a more inviting and comfortable learning atmosphere!

Additionally, we have begun using our new logo image inspired by an ancient Aztec codex symbol which represents oral communication. We will continue to gradually improve our marketing image appearance, and we welcome any feedback or suggestions during this process. Thank you all for your continued support!

Children Spanish Program Expands to offer New Groups & Schedule

Due to the success of our current Thursday Spanish class for children and increased demand for bilingual youth education programs, Tierra will be expanding to offer a second After School Spanish class for 6-10 year olds on Tuesdays, and a new class for the younger 3-5 year olds. These new groups are expected to start in April. For further information on these exciting new program additions, contact us.

Click here for more details about the After School Spanish program or here to learn more about our Family Spanish Classes.
Tierra Educational Center (TEC) provides individual attention at a group rate. Our small group Spanish classes allow our teachers to customize the curriculum of each course based on the needs of the individuals in class. We take pride in offering high quality, affordable, and effective Spanish classes for everyone with the special attention that being a small and local business allows.
Agua Pura
Tierra would like to share with you all some of the good work that two of our Spanish students, Tom and Susan Carter, have done to help communities in Latin America obtain clean drinking water and improve sanitation. Tom founded the non-profit organization "Agua Pura Para El Pueblo" in 2010 after decades worth of work in public health and sanitation, since serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru in 1963. Tom and Susan provide an admirable example of how learning Spanish benefits individuals and communities across the border and beyond. If you are interested in learning how you can become involved with workshop presentations locally or in Latin America, or would like to contribute to this worthy cause, please visit: www.aguapuraparaelpueblo.org
Seeking Volunteers!
Agua Pura will be leading a week long water testing and purification workshop for families north of Mexico City in late Spring, followed by an optional week of Spanish Immersion study experience in Queretero. If interested in volunteering for this enriching experience, contact us.

Student of the Month - Becky Wandell
Congratulations Tierra Educational Center is proud to name Becky Wandell as "Student of the Month" for February 2011. With a big smile and bubbly enthusiasm, Becky brings joy and purpose to the classroom. A truly community-oriented vision fuels her dedication to learn Spanish in both her professional life, as a public school teacher who goes beyond expectations to form a conversation club with Spanish-speaking mothers of her students, and in her personal life as a seasoned international traveler and volunteer. An adventurous spirit, she has troves of experience and a knack for hilarious storytelling. Becky's passion and community work serve as a wonderful example of what we at Tierra hope to foster and an inspiration to find more ways to get involved.
