Spanish Beginner II

Course Description: In our Beginner II course, students will continue to build a foundation in basic Spanish structure and conversation ability. It is recommended for those who have successfully completed Spanish Beginner I, or who have previously studied Spanish and are familiar with the use of nouns and adjectives, the verbs "ser" and "estar", and how to ask basic questions with interrogatives such as “¿Qué?,¿Quién?,¿Dónde?,¿Cómo?,¿Cuántos?”.

Students will focus on learning to conjugate regular verbs in the present tense as well as common time expressions to express frequency to discuss their habits and routines. Other topics introduced include how to express likes and dislikes (gustar), the usage of possessive adjectives (my, your, his, etc.), and how to tell time.

The fun and dynamic conversational activities students engage in as a group and in partners will help students practice the structures studied by discussing their interests and hobbies, families, and work. After having taken Beginner II, students should be able to respond to questions like:

¿Dónde vives?
¿Te gusta bailar?
¿Cómo es tu ciudad?
¿Lees libros a menudo?
¿Cuantos hermanos tienes?
¿A qué hora es la fiesta?
