Brimming with enthusiasm for learning Spanish, Kelly’s consistency in her studies since she started out as Beginner 1 student one year ago has already paid off. Analytical in nature, Kelly instictually prods into the language, seeking to understand the logic of how every structure works and asking the questions that help reveal nuance and deepen everyone’s understanding. Motivated to learn Spanish by her desire to communicate with her in-laws and extended family in their native language, Kelly shows sincere interest in not only mastering the language but also gaining insight into cultural tendencies and manifestations. A supportive and empathetic classmate, she forms positive relationships with all of her compañeros and helps foment a positive social environment in the classroom. We are delighted to count Kelly as part of our amazing student community and can’t wait to continue to see her march on the path toward fluency!

Name: Kelly Freire
Occupation: Project Manager
Time Studying at Tierra: 1 year

1) Why are you studying Spanish?

"I'm studying Spanish to connect more with my family. My husband is Mexican and Cuban and there's a lot of Spanish spoken when we visit his parents and family. Additionally I'm learning Spanish to connect more with my colleagues at work".

2) What is your favorite part about your experience here at Tierra?

"My favorite part about my experience at Tierra is the in-person, small class sizes. I like being able to practice new concepts with peers and understand how Spanish grammar works at a deeper level. I really appreciate how Elyse will answer a question that may not have to do with the lesson to help our general understanding of the language".

3) Can you tell us of a time you have been able to use what you have learned studying here?

"While I've only been studying Spanish for about a year, I have been able to understand and communicate at a basic level with my extended family! This has been very rewarding and I look forward to further expanding my Spanish language knowledge".

¡Felicidades Kelly!
