Since he began his studies in our Beginner 1 course last spring, Frank has stood out as an exceptional student, impressively dedicated to learning and wholeheartedly invested in his class and group. With a delightful sense of humor and infectiously positive attitude, Frank is a natural team cheerleader, helping to create a comfortable atmosphere and cultivate a sense of camaraderie. The significant amount of time he spends studying Spanish outside of class (which he never misses!) is evidenced by his highly developed compositions, brimming with new vocabulary and compelling anecdotes, and his remarkably quick command of new concepts covered. We’re grateful to have such a hard-working, enthusiastic student as Frank and look forward to seeing him continue to develop his skills and make his dreams of travel a reality!

Time Studying at Tierra: 1 year
1) Why are you studying Spanish?
"My wife and I were watching a TV show in Spanish with English captions and we were convinced there were important parts of conversations that they were not translating in the captions, so we decided we needed to learn Spanish to properly understand and enjoy the show. But honestly, it's not only for this reason. I'd been wanting to learn a second language for a long time and the TV show was a good excuse to take up study of a beautiful language spoken by millions around the world."
2) What is your favorite part about your experience here at Tierra?
"I've had a lot of fun learning at Tierra. The teachers have been wonderful, full of enthusiasm and creativity. They put a lot of thought and energy into helping us learn and to do so in an enjoyable way. I also appreciate their understanding of our limitations! I also really like the other students. Each one has a different background in Spanish and a different reason for being at Tierra. They are very interesting people I would not otherwise meet in my everyday life (for one thing, most of them are so much younger than I am!). I like having that diversity in my life."
3) Can you tell us of a time you have been able to use what you have learned studying here?
"I haven't yet had a time that I've been able to actively apply what I've learned (I know, I don't get out enough!) although I do hope to go to Spain next year to give my mad language skilz a whirl (as my sons might put it). In the meantime, I have enjoyed listening to soccer games and post-match interviews in Spanish. I still have a ways to go to catch their rapid-fire Spanish, but there have been players who spoke slowly enough that I could understand most of what they said, which is a very exciting experience."
¡Felicidades Frank!
