Introduction:
In this final lesson of the course we will first address the use of dictionaries and how to take advantage of them. We’ll discuss the types of dictionaries used in translation, when in the translation process to use them, and offer tips to help you utilize them most effectively. We will then move on to re-examine the most important concepts that we studied in this course and to analyze them in terms of the goal set out in Lesson One - to prioritize message over form. We will look at more examples of the theoretical concepts regarding literal and connotative meaning and how they relate to creating translations that communicate the intended message of the author clearly and correctly. Finally, we will conclude with some final thoughts to guide your continued translation practice.
