Course Description: In this exciting course designed for Intermediate students, you’ll exercise your Spanish skills by getting an introduction to the most popular Latin dance styles and musical rhythms such as salsa, bachata, merengue etc.
Tierra instructor Claudia Sol Morgan, also a professional dancer and dance instructor, will impart her vast knowledge of the world of Latin dance and set the stage for stimulating group discussion. Students will learn to identify different music styles through signature features, explore the lives of representative singers, musicians, and dancers, examine song lyrics noting Spanish structure and new vocabulary words, and analyze dance videos.
Assignments will include individual research to be presented in class and engaging readings, helping you to get well-rounded practice and hone all aspects of your language skills as you deepen your knowledge of one of the most widespread expressions of Latin American culture - dance.
Best suited for: Students who’ve completed at least Spanish Intermediate 1 or equivalent
