Caroline Morphy

Spanish Teacher

Caroline Morphy

Caroline was born in Spain and is the daughter of a Spanish mother and a British father. She was raised bilingual and as soon as she started school, she incorporated a third language: Catalan. She feels extremely lucky for having been raised speaking three languages and has taken advantage of the skill she was blessed with. She has a degree in Humanities, and a Masters in Translation. She moved to Portland with her husband after traveling for a few years, teaching English and translating. Caroline has fallen for Portland and now considers it her home with visits to Spain whenever possible.

She is passionate about what she does: teaching people who are curious to learn and translating documents so as to make them available to a wider range of the population. She loves teaching communicative lessons, she likes games and believes playing is correlative to learning. She loves to hear her students speak and make use of the language they are learning. Above all, she loves hearing her students laughing and having a good time. She strives on helping her students learn independently while offering them the resources and background to do so.

She is also passionate about her free time. A perfect Sunday is composed of yoga early in the morning, a brunch date with a friend, a cozy afternoon with a book, cooking an extravagant meal with Josh, and watching a film to end the weekend. Caroline is a lover of stories; a book, an essay, a film, a good friend, they all have stories to tell and Caroline loves hearing them.
