Course Description: In this highly engaging course, students with a strong background in Spanish will continue to polish their skills and expand their cultural knowledge by learning about a sampling of notable Latin American public figures. The people studied may come from the arts, politics, sports, or social movement arenas. Students will have a chance to examine the life stories of people who have made a big impact in wide variety of ways, while also enjoying lively class discussions that will help students to sharpen their skills.
Designed for higher intermediate and advanced students, this conversational course will give you the opportunity to practice your Spanish speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills through relevant readings, songs, videos, individual research, and engaging group discussion. Broaden your cultural horizons with this expansive and fascinating look at extraordinary individuals whose unique stories can give us insight into the wide variety of cultures and realities across Latin America.
Best suited for: Students who’ve completed Intermediate 5, Intermediate 6 or an Advanced course or equivalent.
