Administrative Assistant - Job Application

Job Description

Tierra Educational Center is a local, family-owned, Spanish language center providing Spanish classes for adults from a wide range of professions and backgrounds. We are seeking an administrative assistant to manage our front desk, representing Tierra in interactions with the public, and providing excellent customer service to our students. Our ideal candidate is a proactive, outgoing, detail-oriented, and highly organized individual with exceptional communication skills who will thrive in a culturally diverse and community oriented environment.


  • Provide friendly customer service in all front-desk communications - by phone, email, and in-person
  • Promote our Spanish and cultural course programs to prospective students
  • Serve as liaison in communications between students, instructors, and directors
  • Process payments and student registrations
  • Coordinate scheduling of private lessons
  • Manage and update spreadsheets recording admin operations
  • Organize and maintain class rosters and update attendance records
  • Diligently ensure accurate and efficient completion of all administrative tasks
  • Perform email outreach to inform potential students about current course offerings
  • Welcome and assist students on the first week of new courses (requires occasional schedule flexibility)
  • Maintain tidiness of classrooms and shared areas, some cleaning tasks
  • Occasional lifting in excess of 25 lb


  • BA or BS degree or 4+ years of administrative work experience
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and initiative to achieve best results
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently execute and prioritize work tasks, and to adapt to both slow and fast paced periods
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills, ability to share information effectively and concisely
  • Outstanding customer service skills and phone etiquette
  • Proficiency using Office software and Google Drive suite
  • Strong and accurate typing skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and willingness to learn new skills, drive to continually improve performance
  • Enjoys working independently and as a team with supervisors and co-workers, comfortable working alone
  • Committed and reliable, interested in establishing a long-term work relationship and growing with the business
  • Authentic interest in Spanish language and culture, Spanish language proficiency is a plus


This position is full time, offering at least 35 hours per week. Compensation is competitive DOE plus benefits which include comprehensive health/dental plan and paid time off.

Additional perk: our administrative assistant may take any of our Spanish courses free of charge during the employment period.
