Laura Di Mare was born and raised in the bustling capital city of Costa Rica, San Jose, where she studied theater and video production as a university student. Stemming from her experience as a theater director and actress, she began her teaching career in the world of drama, working with children, adolescents, and adults. She loved how rewarding it was to empower people to step beyond their comfort boundaries and achieve more than they'd thought possible.
Laura learned English as a child and later worked as an English teacher for five years in Costa Rica. Upon moving to Portland, she welcomed the opportunity to share her native language and has been loving teaching Spanish ever since. She has been with Tierra since 2012 and has a lot of experience teaching people of all ages. Her students appreciate her kindness and patience as well as her sense of humor and hardworking nature. As a teacher, she strives to break down difficult concepts into pieces that are easy to understand and encourage her students to practice all they can. She believes that everybody is capable of learning a new language, it is simply a matter of consistency, effort, and the right learning environment.
